Andrew Johnson

Andrew is a Brussels veteran with 25 years of experience in EU law and public affairs. Following several years of practice at the Bar in Belgium, UK and internationally, he has managed the public affairs practices of several leading communications agencies and has led many high-profile campaigns, especially on services liberalisation. A Management Committee member of the European Public Affairs Consultancies Association. Since 2007, Andrew teaches EU public affairs at the Université Paris-Dauphine.



Velislava Popova

She believes in journalism and in the opportunity to make reputable, responsible and worthy journalism in Bulgaria. Since the end of 2008 she is an editor-in-chief of "Dnevnik" newspaper. From the beginning of 2018 she is also responsible for the content and strategy of projects related to content marketing in the media group "Economedia".

She started working in the media group in 1998 for "Capital" newspaper, where she was a reporter and an editor. From 2004 to 2008 she was marketing director of "Economedia".

She graduated from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", specialized in the USA and Germany. She has participated in a study of media ownership in Central and Eastern Europe, and in a project by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN), which is developing a scenario for the future of newspapers in 10 years. Georgi Ivanov


Director of Global Marketing and Operations, Commetric

 

Georgi has extensive experience in digital strategy development, strategic communications, brand and marketing management, media analytics, and integrated marketing communications.

For the last three years he has been in charge of global marketing, product development, and operations at Commetric, a strategic media analytics and intelligence consultancy, which helps global clients such as Coca-Cola, Samsung, Verizon, Orange, Novartis, McKinsey, Citi Bank, Amnesty International, etc., achieve their communications objectives by using the company's innovative media measurement and evaluation solutions.

Georgi has an MBA from Oxford Brookes University in the UK, and holds the CAM Diploma in Digital Marketing from the Certified Institute of Marketing , UK.

Detelina Smilkova


Vice-President of the Higher School of Insurance and Finance (VUZF University)

 

VUZF is the first specialized higher education institution in Bulgaria in the field of economics, finance, insurance, business, management and marketing.

In 2015 she was elected Chairman of the Managing Board of the Bulgarian Association for People Management (BAPM). This is the only people management organization in Bulgaria. It has over 850 companies members and more than 2800 individual members.

In 2017 Ms. Smilkova was elected co-chair of the Education Committee of the Managing Board of the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (CEIBG), the largest employers' organization in Bulgaria. She is project management and innovation specialist in CEIBG.

She is winner of various awards. In 2012, she was distinguished by the magazine BG Business Review for her contribution to the development of the education in Bulgaria.

Nick Andrews

Nick has been a communications consultant for almost thirty years. He has worked for FleishmanHillard for the last thirteen years, moving back to FH’s London office in 2016 after twenty years in Brussels.

Nick is a corporate communicator, specializing in employee engagement, messaging, positioning, thought leadership, issues campaigns and crisis management. He is the EMEA Reputation Management lead and, in this capacity, manages pan-European and global accounts, mobilizing the FH network to serve client needs. He is a generalist and has worked with clients from sectors including, inter alia, airlines, chemicals, financial services, food & beverage, healthcare, insurance, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, and transport.

Nick was a scholar at Worcester College at Oxford University from where he has an MA in Modern History, is a Fellow of the RSA, and is a lead singer in a rock band, where he also plays the guitar if it is not too hard.

When it comes to creativity, passion is key. As Cannes Lions’ Head of Development, Creative Excellence, Italian-born Fiorenza Plinio’s desire to seek out inventive and collaborative business concepts never wavers.

Fiorenza is responsible for nurturing creative excellence across all the company’s products as well as for creating new opportunities for growth and engagement with the creative community and wider organisations. She is also a frequent speaker on creativity and creative leadership in the communications industry.

In 2009 Fiorenza launched the PR Lions awards, working closely with the PR industry to create a platform to promote and reward the PR campaigns that demonstrate the highest levels of creativity and business results.
Fiorenza launched also the Mobile Lions awards in 2012 and worked more recently on rebuilding the wider Cannes Lions awards’ architecture to ensure it not only reflects the way the industry works, but also helps set a clear and cohesive framework that shows the way forward, painting a coherent picture of the industry.

Previously Fiorenza was editor at news agency ANSA Paris, and she wrote for several international publications. Originally from Rome, Italy, Fiorenza holds a Masters’ degree in Media and Journalism from the LUMSA University in Rome and the Sorbonne in Paris.
