Bulgaria, you have a super voice
In 2024 Bulgaria held elections for the National Assembly and the European Parliament. On 9 June, we had to decide the fate of Bulgaria and Europe at a very important moment in world history. Notably, those were the 6th elections for the National Assembly to be held in our country since 2021. People in the country are already tired of voting; it is getting harder and harder to convince them that they should go out and exercise their right to vote and the turnout results are showing lower and lower.
In an effort to inspire citizens to vote, we in Paragraph 42 launched a special campaign for The Institute for the Development of the Public Environment and The Convo Foundation. With the help of a very famous Bulgarian women’s choir „The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices” and a wordplay, they show the power of each voice. In combination of audio experiment and stage metaphor they showed what happens to the representation of all of us – Bulgarian voters – in our governing institutions when we do not exercise our right to vote. To impress, we used the coincidence in the ambiguity of the Bulgarian word “voice” as „vocal“ and as “vote”.
And this is how the “Bulgaria, you have a super voice” campaign was born. His aim was to encourage people to go to the polls and to exercise their constitutional right. Because we all as a society have a common super voice and if more people are voting, we will be represented better.
