Paragraph 42

Constitution of Bulgaria: If we judge the book by its cover

In 2023, the 49th National Assembly made amendments in the Constitution of Bulgaria. However, it turned out that a large majority of the population in Bulgaria has little or no understanding of the contents and meaning of the Constitution and don’t know what the proposed changes to the main law are.

To spark interest in the Constitution, to make it more engaging and accessible and to help people connect with it while also fostering civic consciousness, we in Paragraph 42 launched the campaign “If we judge the book by its cover” for The Convo Foundation and the Bulgarian Institute for Legal Initiatives. They invited 7 renowned artists and a 2D and 3D animation studio to design original covers for the nation’s fundamental law and to transform it into a captivating and visually engaging piece. In addition to natural intelligence, the campaign also looked at artificial intelligence as an undeniable part of current reality and one of the covers is entirely generated by AI. The campaign’s digital hub displayed the covers and gave the first one hundred visitors a free printed Constitution with the cover of their choice. The texts of the Constitution were also uploaded as an audiobook on the platform Storytel.

Aware of the significance of this issue, we at Paragraph 42 embraced the campaign as a personal mission, dedicating ourselves to igniting greater interest and engagement among the audience.
