Interviews in the Dark
Allianz Bank Bulgaria & Mastercard introduced Touch Card by Mastercard—a groundbreaking line of debit and credit cards with distinct notches that allow users, including those with visual impairments, to identify each card by touch. Framed by the message “Not All Cards Are the Same,” this launch sparked a deeper conversation about how we experience the world beyond sight.
From this idea emerged “Interviews in the Dark,” a collaboration with Darik Radio and journalist Konstantin Valkov, who spoke with Bulgarian visual artists and thought leaders in audio-only formats—free from visual prompts. This series culminated in a live event held in complete darkness, guided by visually impaired hosts, where Valkov became the interviewee. By turning the tables, the project reminded everyone that our most profound insights often come when we rely on senses other than sight.
Influencers like DJ Pancho (who is visually impaired) and filmmaker Chris Zahariev expanded the campaign’s reach on social media, demonstrating how Touch Card by Mastercard fosters accessibility in everyday life. By weaving together radio, podcasts, live events, and digital storytelling, Allianz Bank Bulgaria showcased a commitment to user-friendly innovation that touches lives across different abilities—transforming a simple banking product into a powerful symbol of empathy and inclusion.
