Lidl Kids Team
Lidl, Europe’s leading retail chain and a key member of the German Schwarz Group, operates in 31 countries, including Bulgaria, where it has been a trusted presence since 2010. With 136 stores in 58 cities and a workforce of over 4,000 employees, Lidl has earned a reputation as a “smart discounter,” offering premium-quality products at affordable prices.
The summer of 2024 brought the global excitement of football to the forefront, as Germany hosted the UEFA European Football Championship (UEFA EURO 2024). While fans worldwide were enthralled by the tournament’s spectacular matches and star players, Lidl transformed this event into a life-changing experience for 11 children from Bulgaria.
As an official UEFA EURO 2024 partner, Lidl provided those children, aged 6 to 10, with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: walking onto the pitch during the semi-finals as mascots for the Spanish team. This unique chance, awarded through a lottery via the Lidl Plus app, allowed the children to hold hands with football icons in front of millions. Adding to the excitement, the Spanish team not only won the semi-final but went on to claim the championship title, cementing the children’s role as a “lucky charm.”
