Yettel: Safer Internet and Digital Skills Development Program
Yettel Bulgaria is part of e& PPF Telecom Group – a partnership between PPF Group and Emirates Telecommunication Group (e&), focused on delivering excellent telecommunications services to over 3 million customers.
Yettel’s Online Safety and Digital Skills Development Program is its longest-running telecom CSR initiative, launched as a Safer Internet program in 2006. Over time, it evolved into a comprehensive digital inclusion policy and a key pillar of Yettel’s Sustainability Strategy. The program aims to educate 40,000 children annually on online risks and to enhance the digital skills of 10,000 adults. It also supports Europe’s Digital Decade program so more people can fully participate in today’s digital society.
Key partners are Safer Internet Center (Safenet), Klett Bulgaria publishing house, and the educational platform prepodavame.bg (Teach for Bulgaria Foundation). They all play a crucial role in reaching the target audience, as well as delivering high-quality and engaging content.
The campaign covers key digital safety topics, including privacy protection – creating strong passwords and interacting with strangers – critical thinking to combat misinformation and recognize fake news, and awareness of online threats like cyberbullying and phishing. Meanwhile, digital literacy initiatives focus on adopting new technologies, including the use of Artificial Intelligence in education. These training sessions are specifically designed for teachers.
