Futureproof: Digital skills for life – Yettel’s Online Safety and Digital Skills Development Program
In a society where digital participation shapes education, work and social life, building trust and digital competence is a long-term sustainability priority. For 20 years, Yettel’s Online Safety and Digital Skills Development Program has evolved in response to a changing technological environment—expanding from a child-focused initiative into a multi-stakeholder ESG commitment that now actively supports students, teachers and parents alike.
In 2025, the program introduced two major upgrades. First, Digital Scouts—an initiative aimed at children within the broader program— took gamification to the next level by launching fully developed online training games, turning digital safety into practical skill-building through realistic scenarios. Second, Bulgaria’s first self-assessment tool for digital competencies was introduced, enabling teachers and students to evaluate their skills in line with the European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp) and receive tailored guidance.
Developed with long-term partners such as the Centre for Safe Internet, educational publisher Klett and the educational platform Prepodavame.bg, the program integrates classroom resources, teacher training, parental support, and digital tools into one coherent ecosystem. In 2025 alone, online safety initiatives reached 60,309 children, while 12,525 people improved their digital skills, demonstrating how sustained ESG engagement can generate measurable, systemic impact.
