Futureproof: Digital skills for life – Yettel’s Online Safety and Digital Skills Development Program

For two decades Yettel Bulgaria has been building its Online Safety and Digital Skills Development Program—evolving alongside technology and society to keep people protected in an increasingly complex digital world. What began as a child-focused initiative has gradually expanded to include teachers and parents, recognising that digital safety is a shared responsibility across generations.

In 2025, the program entered its most progressive phase yet. Under the Digital Scouts initiative—part of the broader CSR program—Yettel introduced two fully developed online games for children aged 7–13 and 14+, transforming gamification into a real interactive learning environment. Also, as part of the program, Yettel and the educational platform Prepodavame.bg launched Bulgaria’s first digital skills self-assessment tool, aligned with the European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp), enabling teachers and students to evaluate and strengthen their competencies.

Through partnerships with the Centre for Safe Internet, educational publisher Klett and Prepodavame.bg, the program integrates free lesson plans, interactive installations at events for extended learning beyond the screen and teacher webinars into a cohesive ecosystem.

Approaching its 20-year milestone in 2026, Yettel’s initiative demonstrates sustained commitment, continuous innovation and visible societal impact—reaching 60,309 children and supporting 12,525 individuals in strengthening their digital skills in 2025 alone.
