The initiative “The [UN]FIXABLE: In Search of Workable Solutions” was designed as a multi-stakeholder engagement platform addressing violence against and among children. The title is a deliberate play on words: by isolating “UN” in brackets, it challenges the idea that children are “unfixable” and reframes the issue as solvable – if institutions, experts, media, and society act together. The initiative was triggered by a nationally representative survey conducted by the Lachezar Tsotsorkov Foundation with ESTAT polling agency. The findings revealed alarming attitudes: nearly one in three parents in Bulgaria reports their child has experienced violence from a peer or younger child; twice as many people under 35 have experienced violence from an adult compared to the 55+ generation; nearly 15% believe children provoke violence against them; two-thirds are unaware that anonymous reporting is possible. Rather than merely presenting data, the initiative mobilized executive authorities, the Ombudsman, ministries, NGOs, experts, and national media into a coordinated dialogue—transforming research into shared institutional and public engagement.
