L’Oréal – For Women in Science

Women need science and science needs women – it’s simple as that. History is full of women who made enormous contributions to science. Some of them are rightfully well-known, like Marie Curie, Ada Lovelace, and Rosalind Franklin. Regardless of this, often women don’t get praised enough for their achievements. For instance, only 3% of Scientific Nobel Prizes have been awarded to women. But we’re here to change that.

To make a difference, in 1998 L’Oréal and UNESCO established the socially responsible global initiative For Women in Science and in 2010 in partnership with Sofia University they launched the program in Bulgaria. It aims to provide recognition and financial support to women who through their work contribute to the development of science and strive to change the world for the better.

Since 2010 thirty-three Bulgarian women received funds which aim to stimulate their scientific work. Full of talent and great potential, Bulgarian women of science keep conquering new heights and showing the importance of female presence in science. Bearing this in mind, For Women in Science project remains one of the most important initiatives organized by M3 Communications Group, Inc. ever since its local launch. In 2022, we were again entrusted with its organization and promotion, as we had to face the challenging task to restore its glory and in-person event formats from before Covid-19.
