Yettel: Safer Internet Programme
Yettel Bulgaria is a telecommunications company, part of the PPF Group, which connects over 3 million users with people, technology, and businesses. The Safer Internet Programme is Yettel’s longest socially responsible initiative since 2006. It includes various activities and projects that aim to improve the digital skills of children and adults so they can cope with the challenges and dangers online. As a responsible company, Yettel is aware of its responsibility towards society and the impact of technology development on it. Social media, artificial intelligence, IoT, and machine learning come with new risks to online safety and data protection and require new digital skills that we need to learn faster due to the intensity of the changing environment or lack of tools. That is why the program focuses on equipping society with new knowledge and skills and protecting the most vulnerable – children and teens – by informing them about digital dangers and helping them be safe online. In 2023, together with Yettel and campaign partners, we delivered several significant campaigns under the program. Not only have they helped children to be in a safer online environment, but we have also built up the digital skills of many teachers, bringing the important topic of online safety back into the public spotlight. The most recognizable among the activities is the Digital Scouts educational quiz for young people, which had its sixth edition at the end of last year.
